After five diagnosed years (on top of four undiagnosed ones) I consider myself to be an authority on the Meniere experience. I’ve read much info, tried various treatments and looked inward for understanding. All answers lie within. It’s true I have some radical thoughts on this disease,

 but maybe that’s what’s needed. Frankly I’m frustrated that the medical community hasn’t established a cause or a cure in the past 150 years. Menieres isn’t as medically “sexy” as better known illnesses (i.e. Diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Epilepsy, etc) but sufferers need just as much support, research and social awareness. 

My personal belief is that Ménière’s Disease is an autoimmune disease with an inner ear herpes component triggered through a psychoneuroimmunological route. I’m not medically trained however I have many years of first-hand experience. 

 If you’re a medical professional with a highly trained team at your disposable, consider devoting some time to proving the autoimmune-herpes-psychoneuroimmunological link.
