FOOD THAT TRIGGERS MENIERE DISEASE

What not to eat when you have Meniere's?

Foods and beverages that contain caffeine, such as chocolate, coffee, tea and certain soft drinks, have stimulant properties that can make symptoms worse. For instance, caffeine may make ringing in the ear (tinnitus) louder. Stop smoking. Avoiding nicotine may lessen the severity of Meniere's disease symptoms.

What part of the ear does Meniere's disease affect?
Ménière's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that causes severe dizziness (vertigo), ringing in the ears (tinnitus), hearing loss, and a feeling of fullness or congestion in the ear. Ménière's disease usually affects only one ear.

  • The “food” idea seems to support the concept that “you are what you eat”. So it seems to matter what you put into your body.
  • Your body “has a mind of its own”. It has a built-in mechanism to protect you: its major protective measure is your immune system. And one part of this is the inflammatory process. Maybe what we put ONTO our bodies matters as well. It is my intention to make you aware of how your body works. None of what I share is medical advice. Everything can be checked in anatomy and physiology textbooks.

  • seems to come down to what to avoid and what to do more of. I think most of it was a collection of ordinary foods someone has deemed to be harmful:
    • caffeine
    • nicotine
    • sugars
    • salt
    • MSG
    • chocolate
    • alcohol
